Base depth & compaction
Paver patios need a 6-inch compacted Class II base on residential lots, 8-10 inches under driveways. Compaction in lifts with a plate compactor, not one dump-and-pray pass. Skipping base depth is the #1 reason South Bay pavers heave within a few years.
Drainage engineering for Bay Area clay
Most South Bay soil is expansive clay that holds winter water. We install French drains, area drains and downspout tie-ins sized for actual runoff, and grade planting areas so water leaves the property instead of pooling against foundations and hardscape.
California water regulations
Non-functional turf in front yards and commercial strips is restricted under Valley Water rules. We design low-water plant palettes, drip irrigation and mulch to comply with MWELO for larger installs and help clients access Valley Water lawn-conversion rebates where they qualify.
